Paketo community newsletter No. 6

David Espejo

Hi Paketo community:

For those celebrating, we wish you happy holidays and a joyful new year. WG meeting scheduled for Dec 27th has been cancelled to accommodate time off from most of project’s maintainers and contributors.

Now on to the news:

Project updates

  • Roadmap 2023: It’s that time of the year again!
    • Paketo Buildpacks project, in truly open source fashion, builds and execute the roadmap in the open, by taking into account your feedback. In order to participate, all you need to do is to add an idea/request to this Discussion or upvoting existing ideas for the Steering Committee to build the final product. The Roadmap will be published early next year and the implementation status will be communicated both in the PRs and WG meetings throughout the year.

New features/Buildpacks

  • PHP Buildpack v2.0.0 has been released with support for the Jammy Jellyfish stack as well as graceful stack upgrades.
    • This was the last buildpack missing support for the Jammy Jellyfish stack, the most recent Ubuntu LTS release published in April this year. Big thanks to everyone involved on this achievement!

Contributor shoutout

Thanks to Kevin Ortega from IBM, who has been a longtime supporter of the project, pushing 6 PRs on 4 repos, authoring blog posts, RFCs and joining WG meetings to provide feedback and participate.

Congratulations Kevin, you are the Paketo Contributor of the Month!
